The bolex is the classic workhorse, been around for a million years and is as loud as a lawnmower.Makes a good MOS camera.

yep, its loud, but its a real camera (read expensive to use) and has loads of knobs on it for changing film speed and so on -and you can actually control the depth of focus...blah blah and so on with it and it does single frame.
Its pretty much a standard film student camera, on which you can experiment with the basics of photography.
besides Bad Taste was made on a camera similar to this.

Groovy. The bolex is a great camera. I believe the bolex is pretty wicked for shooting animation stuff too.

Of course, just owning the damn thing is no help. I have film equipment coming out the wazoo by now, but still haven't shot anything useful.

Too busy working to buy new equipment...*sigh*...its a vicious circle.

16mm stock isn't cheap either.

Im not totally sure -
it seems to have 2 x 25mm ( I think) and a pretty good zoom lens.(75 mm?)
One of the wider angle lenses has ceased up - Any ideas how to loosen it? (undo those wee screws and carefully try and take it apart??)

After MI is in the Can and a few other projects are taken care of im go to attempt my first project with film.


and keeping in line with everything i do keeps getting ten times bigger, how does this sound 4 acres of western front, 100 extras and 7 camera units

don't forget that the "secret adventures of tom thumb" a stop-motion masterpiece IMO was also made with a bolex, by a team calling themselves the "bolex brothers" -- based in bath too I seem remember ... ?

oh, and chance, anyone thinking of making a first world war movie -- that's a bold move indeed, for many reasons!! better have a good hook ...
